  2. When the other officials investigated Daniel, what did they discover about his conduct? How did that shape their plan against him? (Verses 4–5)
  3. What decree did the officials persuade Darius to sign, and what was the punishment for disobeying it? (Verses 6–9)
  4. What did Daniel do after learning that the decree had been signed? What details show that prayer was already an established part of his life? (Verse 10)
  5. How did the officials portray Daniel’s actions to the king, and how did Darius respond when he realized the consequences of his decree? (Verses 11–15)

Deeper Discussion — Questions 1–5

  1. How does Daniel’s example connect devotion to God with excellence in everyday responsibilities? Why does dependability matter to a Christian’s witness?
  2. Why was Daniel’s faithfulness to God something his enemies could count on? What distinguishes a consistent faith from a merely public profession?
  3. How did flattery and the claim that “everyone agreed” influence Darius? What can help us recognize when praise is clouding our judgment?
  4. Daniel continued both praying and giving thanks while facing a deadly threat. What does this reveal about his relationship with God and the role of spiritual habits under pressure?
  5. At the end of verse 15, Daniel does not yet know how God will deliver him. What makes obedience difficult when the outcome is uncertain? How does Jesus’ faithfulness through suffering deepen our understanding of trusting God?
